Hiking & Swim Retreat- Long Weekend

Overview:
Escape for a revitalizing weekend in the mountains, where you’ll enjoy scenic hikes and invigorating wild swims. Reconnect with your body as you explore some of Lake District’s most stunning landscapes. Strengthen your spirit through cold plunges and build lasting connections with new friends.

Your safety is our top priority, that’s why your guides, Eva and Josh, are both qualified Mountain Leaders. With Josh a Open Water Lifeguard and Eva a qualified firefighter, you know you’re in safe hands. Their extensive local knowledge and personalized approach to adventure are at the heart of this retreat, promising a once in a lifetime experience.

Location:
Our Hike and Swim Retreat is located in the heart of the Duddon valley, a truly wild and tranquil part of the Lake District. We’ll be staying in a restored Cumbrian farmhouse, rich in heritage with breathtaking views.  An abundance of local walking and swimming locations locally, this venue is the perfect getaway.

Itinerary:

Thursday: Arrive at 4pm, meet the group and unwind for the evening. Enjoy an evening river dip followed by a warming meal.

Friday: Begin your adventure with an exhilarating hike to the Coniston Mountain range, where the landscapes promise to captivate and inspire. On our return, we’ll take a plunge in a Lakeland tarn to soothe sore legs.

Saturday: Hike to one of Eskdales secret swim spots, with the option of a higher mountain route or a lower woodland walk. After a dip, visit the ruins of a roman fort, then return along a peaceful forest track.

Sunday: Low level circular walk. Meander alongside the river, through ancient woodland to a welcoming Cumbrian pub. After refreshments, we’ll make our way back through the forest to our last swim spot before final goodbyes.

Accommodation & Meals:
Stay in comfortable shared dormitories, designed to ensure a restful night's sleep after a day of adventures.
All vegetarian meals (breakfast, lunch and evening meal) and refreshments are provided, with vegan and gluten-free options available, catering to all dietary needs.

Hiking and Meditation retreat

Overview:

Join us this July for a weekend of renewal, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Immerse yourself in the tranquillity lakeland countryside, hiking through scenic trails during the day and participating in enriching workshops focused on mindfulness and wellbeing in the evenings. Find inspiration in nature and connect with like-minded individuals.

Wildside Hikes is excited to be collaborating with Nadia Miriam, an experienced Breathworks Mindfulness Teacher and Somatic Practitioner. Nadia will be guiding meditation and somatics sessions throughout the retreat designed to foster inner peace and connection. 

Your hosts, Eva and Josh, are experienced Mountain Leaders, ensuring your safety and enjoyment on the trails. With Josh’s skills as an open water lifeguard and Eva’s expertise as a firefighter, you are in excellent hands. Their enthusiasm for exploring the great outdoors and extensive local knowledge will be at the core of this retreat, striking the perfect balance between adventure and serenity.

Location:  

Your retreat is nestled in a peaceful Bunkbarn, located on the edge of Grizedale Forest. This serene location offers cozy communal spaces and 20 acres of surrounding woodland, making it the perfect base for your weekend of exploration and relaxation.

Itinerary:

Friday: Arrive by 4 PM to get settled and relax. Join us for an optional meditation session, followed by a hearty communal dinner.  

Saturday: Set the tone of the day with a grounding mindfulness session and a nourishing breakfast. We’ll then set out hiking through the stunning Coniston Mountain range, a chance to decompress and get to know others. Once back, the evening will be rounded up with a restorative mindfulness session and a healthy, delicious meal.   

Sunday: Start the day positively with a peaceful meditation. Enjoy a leisurely walk, via ancient woodland and pastures, to a hidden gem in the South Lakes—a tranquil Lakeland tarn. Perfect for decompressing and reflecting on the weekend. Finish with refreshments and final goodbyes, feeling more balanced, calm and contented. 

Detailed itineraries will be provided upon booking, ensuring you know exactly what to expect for your weekend adventure. This retreat is open to all ages and abilities. Hikes will be at a moderate level, and beginners are warmly welcomed to the mindfulness sessions.

Meet Your Mindfulness Facilitator:

We are delighted to have Nadia Miriam leading our mindfulness sessions. As an experienced accredited Breathworks Mindfulness Teacher, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (trauma therapy) and a student in Neuro Affective Touch (pre verbal and developmental trauma). Nadia brings a compassionate, trauma sensitive and holistic approach to each session. Nadia’s openness and passion for supporting and facilitating well being, create a safe space to reflect, connect and be.
